Senior Vaccination Event and Vaccine Update


 On Friday March 12th the Senior Center, Fire Department and United Health Center offered first time vaccinations to 140 seniors. In prior weeks this partner served an additional 55 seniors with their first doses. Second doses were scheduled at the time and we look forward to seeing more activity in the coming weeks to keep Selma healthy. CITYWIDE COVID-19 VACCINE UPDATE

 

COVID vaccines have dramatically increased in availability. We urge you to reach out wherever you can to obtain a vaccine. The City of Selma is working with other agencies to increase the local supply within Selma and we are supporting multiple upcoming vaccination events. Please follow us on Facebook for event updates or call City Hall at 559-891-2200.

Some pharmacies and health care providers are offering vaccinations to their patients and the public in addition to the government facilitated vaccination sites such as the Fresno Fairgrounds. You need to contact the vaccine providers directly to obtain an appointment. The information below is not a representation of all vaccination sites available. Please refer to www.fcdph.org or call 2-1-1 for more information.

 

Residents that are eligible and should seek vaccines as follows:

Seniors 65+

All vaccine locations are serving senior populations.  See below for additional locations. We recommend you contact your health provider first, or contact the Selma Senior Center at 559-891-2239. Reedley College is an Optum Serve (State provided) site that has appointments available on a regular basis. You may call 1-877-218-0381 to schedule your vaccination in Reedley or refer to the below list of providers. If you need transportation to your appointment contact the Senior Center for transportation resources. If you are a homebound disabled senior contact us about possible at home service through the Selma Fire Department.

Farm, Restaurant, and Food Workers

The Sikh Center of the Pacific Coast Gurdwara is hosting a health and resource fair on March 27th. You must register for vaccines at this event. Please email the United Way at info@uwfm.org (see attached flyer).

Additionally, the Fresno Fairgrounds continues to host vaccinations. Registration is available at www.MyTurn.CA.GOV or call 1-833-422-4255 to schedule. Remote events and drive thru events are also generally serving the farm and food worker community. See list below.

Educators and Day Care Providers

Selma Unified School District and United Health Center is providing the 2nd round of shots for those that received them a couple of weeks ago. This event on March 27th is not for 1st time doses. For first doses please register on www.MyTurn.CA.GOV or call 1-833-422-4255 to schedule an appointment at the Fresno Fair Grounds or see the list below for additional vaccine locations.

Community Health workers including volunteers working to educate or provide resources to the community due to the COVID pandemic
