The Cultural Arts Center is home to a variety of programs offered through the Recreation and Community Services Department, Raisin Cain Players, Cool Kids Players and the Selma Arts Council. Combined, we continue to support, promote, develop and offer a variety of cultural experiences and programs to the community and South Valley.

2021/2022 SEASON

SELMA ARTS COUNCIL
The Selma Arts Council is made up of fifteen volunteer members who sponsor a variety of art related programs. The group sponsors the Raisin Cain Players, Art in the Park, art shows and the Mariachi Festival. The Arts Council meets on the second Thursday of each month at the Cultural Arts Center, 1935 High Street at 6:30 p.m. The public is always welcome to attend and the Arts Council is always looking for someone experienced or have the desire to gain experience to direct a play.

The Cool Kid Players is a performing arts program that caters to the youth of the community. It mission is to give children and young adults the opportunity to learn about theater and perform for an audience. In doing so children developing confidence as well as public speaking skills to apply in other areas. The youth involved in a C.K.P. production present a two hour musical featuring multiple performances. There is no audition necessary to join this group, but class space is limited. The fee to sign up for a program is $45.00 and payment is required upon sign up.

Seating Campaign
Seats in the new Selma Arts Center are available for sponsorship at a cost of $100.00 per chair.Donors will be recognized on a donor plaque or similar recognition. You can list your name or donate in honor/memory of someone. All gifts are tax deductible to the full extent of the law (#31-1537679)

Various Visual Art/Music Youth Classes
Beginning Acting Classes
AGES 5 and 6
Beginning acting classes consist of two-hour sessions on consecutive Saturdays. Watch for upcoming classes. The cost is $25.00 for the run of the program, and each class may only have ten participants.
C.K.P. Preludes
AGES 6 to 9
This junior company presents a short pre-show program prior to the main Cool Kid Players show. The cost is $35.00 for the session and the group is limited to fifteen. Students must be able to read, but no experience or audition is necessary.
Cool Kid Players
AGES 10 to 15
The youth involved in this show present an hour-long feature with four performances. There is no audition necessary to join this group, but class space is limited. The fee for this program is $45.00.
